RealReviewCalifornia 2.0 out of 5 stars I am leaning towards no because when I put the cap over the sensor it does not read zero but jumps around between 0-18lux. So I left the cap on the sensor and then stuck it inside a black sock the blackness thereof as the inside of a coffin on a moonless night and it still did not read zero. So I removed the battery then replaced it and zeroed the unit. It still does not read zero. I have an inspection area that needs to be 600lux. When I set this unit on the table it reads 200-203lux then it jumps to over 1900lux. Looks like I will be getting a different unit. I love amazon and the internet because the days of buyer beware are over. Just hit return item and print out a UPS tag and send your troubles back to where they came.Naturally, to get to know the product, it was important to unpack and test it. He did say he felt the instructions could have been more instructive. Upon installing the provided battery, he soon discovered the unit is simple to use.

To test the unit he used it in and around our home to gain various readings in different areas. He said it works well. It will measure light from very dim to very bright. It will measure any kind of light. The unit is not heavy, making it easy to carry around. Another handy feature is a built-in memory. It has a large display making it easy to read. Best of all, it works. It will complete the work he is required to accomplish. The unit also comes with a carrying case making it easy to store when not in use.My only issue is the cord really isn't that handy. You could forcibly stretch it 2 feet or so, but it retracts right back, and pulling it hard enough to stretch it that far makes it feel like you are going to pull the cord out of the receiver or the meter itself. Other than that it does work well and have enough light range for anything I do with it. It feels like it is durable and will last a long time.So this might just be a batch problem. Until this started it worked fine, meter readings are about 5% different between LED and non-LED meters. Otherwise this review would be 4 or 5 stars. Update:It has not been a problem to check each time I finish using this meter that the button is not stuck 'on', hence I would now rate this 4 star.It included a 9V battery so it was ready to use as soon as I received it. The quality and packaging were very good. There are only 4 buttons and they are well marked. It gave readings that were about 5% higher for an LED light those obtained with a standard light meter. When precision for Led lighting is required, this meter is a good device. Highly recommended considering its versatility, price and quality. It is possible to get better devices, but yu must pay much more money for it.Early usage shows it works well. I don't anticipate any problems as the manufacturer is a very reputable company in the world of meter design and manufacturing. The parent to Amprobe is a very recognizable name with exceptional quality.
