Chin 5.0 out of 5 stars Am fairly handy but took me 4 hrs so don't think it's a quicky job. (Maybe I'm just slow.) As others have said, need to replace wall unit and electric eyes (included, as is one remote). Our old amber eye had wiring fault so had to run complete new line. Green was OK so I just spliced into the old one. Loosened chain and used screwdriver to lever off gear. Wired rail up to ceiling mount to keep it from falling. All bolt holes same as old unit. Dropped old motor. Reattached wires (using internet instructions as none came in box!). Downloaded app and now can use smartphones to open and close remotely, which replaces exterior 4-digit remote which no longer works. Now if I'm in New York I can raise and lower my door in California. Whoo boy! Used supplied grease to regrease the rail. Oiled all the roller bearings in door. Now it all works like a charm. FedEx delivery, came within a week. Reasonable DIY job.:-)Dropped the motor end of the rail by removing two bolts. Removed the old Motor Head by removing two bolts. Installation was exactly the same in reverse. Took less than 30 minutes. Wired in the new touch pad and the two new photo eyes (included) and I was in business. Wi-Fi and HomeLink programming were a snap. The old transmitter from my Craftsman cannot be coded to it, but the ability to open and close it from my phone is sweet. Life is about compromise.

Installation was easy, as I was replacing an older model whose gears were stripped over time. Based on others' reviews, I was concerned that my old electric eyes would not work, but they did work with the new opener. It didn't matter though as the package came with new electric eyes. Oddly, the old wired buttons didn't work with the new unit, so I had to install the new one that came in the box. Also, the old remotes and my car homelink (2006 car model) did not work. The instructions noted that any homelink 2006 and older would require a 'repeater' sold separately. Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase but, I feel somewhat annoyed that LiftMaster would change the remotes and the wired buttons.Unplugged,, unbolted it, propped in on the ladder, loosened the chain and swapped it. Reconnecting was a snap. I recommend you mark and document your wiring before proceeding. I had to replace the wall unit with the new one and push the learn button. Its really that simple. Take special care and learn how to adjust the travel up and down once you have the new unit in place. Its pretty straight forward, but you want to make sure you do it right and test the eye beams as well of course. Overall and simple project any DIY-er can handle.Fortunately the Internet works. I was able to get the thing mounted easily but the instructions were very focused on getting the App and Wifi working. No instructions on how to get the thing wired with plugs. What if I didn't have internet.Springs on double sectional garage door needed more tension because I couldn't lift the door by hand. Adjusted springs (Don't do this unless you understand the procedure). Remove 2 bolts from overhead hanger and gently drop rail onto sturdy table. Remove other 2 bolts. Bolt in new unit and raise to overhead hanger. WILL need the new door LED's and wall mount switch. The wall switch was defective, but Liftmaster technical support mailed a replacement to me right away. Remote openers were easy to reprogram.

Great upgrade.Definitely recommend 2 people to do, found it difficult with my 8 ft ladder and myself holding in position. Took a little longer than I thought as one of the wires slipped out enough not to work or see, but once I checked reconnected and worked perfectlyMy hubby who isn’t the most handy man was able to install just fine. Nold Open works like a simple push button you might already have for your door. After installing Nold, your existing wall switch and traditional remotes will work just like before. If you have any doubts whether your opener is compatible with Nold, feel free to contact us. If you have a wall switch already installed, you can perform this simple test to verify compatibility: follow the two wires coming from the push button to your opener. Where it connects to the circuit board, touch them together for a moment.

If that makes your door open, stop and close, then your garage door opener supports a standard push button, therefore it will be compatible with Nold Open as well. Below we listed the most common garage door and gate opener brands. It’s worth mentioning that Nold works with other access control solutions too, like magnetic door locks, electromechanical locks and anything that requires a low voltage push button to operate.
